MEMORIAL HERMANN SURGERY CENTER THE WOODLANDS

Urological Surgery

Our urologists provide expertise and surgical treatment for urinary disorders of the male and female urinary tracts, as well as conditions of the male genital tract or reproductive system. Our urology specialists work closely with patients to develop individualized treatment plans that include both medical and surgical approaches to a wide range of urological problems. Specialists also give our patients the complete care available which allows for the best possible outcomes.

Some of our most common urological procedures and conditions treated at Memorial Hermann Surgery Center The Woodlands include:

Ureteroscopy and Lithotripsy for Kidney Stones

The purpose of a ureteroscopy with laser lithotripsy is to break up kidney stones in the ureter. The ureter is the tube that connects the kidney to the bladder. It does not involve any incision. In this procedure, the surgeon applies a laser beam on the stone to pulverize the stone into tiny pieces. This allows them to easily pass out of the body without pain.

Bladder Slings

A physician may recommend a bladder sling to women dealing with urinary incontinence. The sling is a thin strip of mesh or tissue placed under the urethra. It lifts and holds it closed when the bladder is full. It’ll prevent urinary leaks when active, sneezing, or coughing.

Prostate Surgery

When people mention prostate surgery, they’re referring to prostatectomy. It’s a surgery to remove part or all of the prostate gland in the male pelvis. The prostate is below the urinary bladder and surrounds the urethra. A physician may recommend it as a treatment for localized prostate cancer or other conditions affecting the prostate.
